The Muslim Association of Britain would like to congratulate Zara Mohammed who was elected today, Sunday 31st January, to be the new Secretary General of Britain’s largest Muslim umbrella body, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).

Zara, who was the former Assistant Secretary General for MCB, is the first woman (and the first Scot) in the organisation’s history to have been elected to the post of Secretary General. MAB wishes Zara all the best in her leadership endeavours in the next two years, and prays that The Almighty guides her to what holds best for MCB, MCB’s affiliate organisations, and for all British Muslims at large.

Indeed, we are currently in challenging times with the Covid crisis and the increasing Islamophobia, and no doubt many challenges will be faced. However, we are positive about the opportunities and prospects that lie ahead, and positive about meeting the challenges, and look forward to working alongside Zara and MCB to serve the Muslim community and continue to have a positive impact on society.
